Two years ago I hosted my first Christmas dinner. It had been about 20 years since I had a group of people in my home. It made me very happy. Now Christmas is always at my house. Nothing big, but still very nice.
This year I also am hosting Thanksgiving Dinner. I spent a week planning a simple but hopefully tasty dinner. Non-Traditional, like us and full of foods that we have never had, or at least prepared differently then we are use to. When I have people over I like to always make recipes that I have never made before the thrill of the conquest. Last night, my families little quirks made me a little crazy and then made me smile. They are what I love them for, not in spite of, but because of.
Every year I think about how nice it would be to do this on a regular basis, and yet I don't. It is so difficult to get everyone in one spot at the same time. Life is busy, priorities are different.
So, this morning before all the hubbub starts I will stop and think about how lucky I am to be able to do this.
